| This was home similar to the Orakei State House we had completed. The living areas were typically minimal and utilitarian. Our clients wanted to open up the home, providing a modern and light living environment and allowing a relief from the sleeping areas that were more confined. As the project was to be staged, they needed a third bedroom that could function as an additional living and play area for a small child. We managed to achieve this by the use of multiple sliding doors that slid into a cavity wall. Toys, TV and wardrobe space were concealed behind a second set of sliding doors. Bi-folding exterior doors open to the northern terrace and provide an outdoor room, increasing that perception of space. |
